LocationCordillera del Cóndor region. Río Wawaime watershed, tributary of Río Quimi. Below site of proposed EcuaCorriente copper mine, on ridge near 1-ha forest inventory "Wawaime Plot". Tall cloud forest on ridge, on substrate of mixed sand and clay soil, below sandstone plateau. 1130 m elev.

NoteSmall tree 4 m tall, with trunk 4 cm diameter. In forest understory on mixed sandstone/clay substrate. Calyx green. Corolla ivory-white on lobes, shading to pale yellow-green at base of corolla and on nectary at base of corolla. Corolla lobes reflexed to 90-degree angle with tube. Anthers dark brown. Immature fruits yellow-green. Dried, mature capsules dehisce from apex to base, with persistent styles, dark brown. Holotype: Shuaria ecuadorica D.A. Neill & J.L.
