NoteTerrestrial; internodes short, 2-4 cm diam.; cataphyll fibers red-brown, persisting in dense network; petioles terete, narrowly sulcate adaxially, tinged purplish toward apex; blades subcoriaceous, semiglossy, moderately bicolorous; midrib narrowly rounded and concolorous above, narrowly rounded and paler below; primary lateral veins deeply sunken and concolorous above, acute and slightly paler above; tertiary veins in part prominently sunken and concolorous above, raised and concolorous below; inflorescence spreading; spathe green, hooding spadix; spadix 2.8 cm diam., dark violet-purple, matte; pistils weakly emerging, green to purple.
