NoteTerrestrial; internodes short, 1.5 cm diam.; cataphylls lanceolate, mostly persisting as fibers; petioles C-shaped, broadly and obtusely sulcate, medium green, weakly glossy; blades subcoriaceous, dark green and semiglossy above, moderately paler and semiglossy below; midrib narrowly rounded and weakly paler above, narrowly rounded and paler below; primary lateral veins narrowly rounded and concolorous above and below; tertiary veins flattened, darker than surface; inflorescence erect; spathe purple, reflexed-recurled; spadix dark purple-violet.
