NoteTerrestrial; stems to 2 m long, dark green and semiglossy soon reddish brown; cataphylls medium green; persisting (midrib purplish); petiole sharply and broadly sulcate, medium green, semiglossy; blades thinly coriaceous, dark green and matte-subvelvety above, moderately paler and semiglossy below, midrib narrowly rounded and paler above, narrowly rounded and paler below; primary lateral veins etched and concolorous above, narrowly convex and concolorous below; spadix maroon in fruit; berries orange-red.
