NoteHemi-eiphytic tree, eventually becoming established as a free-standing tree, 15 m tall, 30 cm DBH. Leaves very thick and fleshy. Cut stems exude creamy, sticky latex. Petals bright red at apex, fading to ivory-white at base. Stigmas white at anthesis, covered with thick, sticky resin. Staminal area below stigmas yellow, also covered with sticky resin. Immature fruit green with persistent black stigmas. Probably a functionally dioecious, pistillate plant.
