LocationPu'er. South of Nanping-zhen at north end of Meizi-hu (artificial lake) scenic spot near Pu'er New Century Meizi Lake Hotel. Remnant forest around artificial lake, soil stony clay; trees ca. 15-20 m tall, Pinus the most conspicuous. Understory including Helicia, Lyonia, Polyspora, Wendlandia, Ilex, Pyrus, Rubus several Fabaceae and numerous vines, including Smilax and Celastrus. 1340-1350 m. elev.

NoteAt edge of forest and partly in forest. Tree ca. 7 m tall; fruit pendulous, immature, green, but full grown, also with younger immature fruit; inflorescences with buds only. This tree most closely resembles plants that have been identified as H. erratica J. D. Hooker var. sinica W. T. Wang, a name placed in synonymy of H. nilagarica in Flora of China 5: 196. 2004.
