Mixed broadleaved evergreen and deciduous forest with Fagaceae and Lauraceae common on steep, unaltered slopes, also Duabanga common along main stream; most of forest on accessible slopes converted to rubber plantations. 830-920 m. elev.

NoteSteep bank above road; climbing in shrubs and trees. Vine, ca. 7 m long; branches pendulous; broken stems and leaves with copious milk-like sap; calyx green; corolla white; flowers sweetly fragrant. Melodinus henryi in synonymy under M. cochinchinensis in Flora of China 16: 149. 1995, but seemingly different.
