NoteTerrestrial to 1.3 m tall; internodes short, 4 cm diam.; petioles medium green, matte, densely speckled; sheathed to within 7-8 cm of apex; sheath deciduous; geniculum sharply sulcate; blades subcoriaceous, dark green and semiglossy above, much paler and matte below; midrib V-sulcate and much paler above thick and narrowly raised, slightly paler below; primary lateral veins obtusely sunken and concolorous above, convex, darker below; minor veins moderately distinct; inflorescence erect; spathe greenish pre-anthesis; spadix salmon-red, becoming pinkish purple.
