Remarks

Terrestrial to 1.2 m tall; internodes short, 3.5 cm diam.; cataphylls persisting intact then marcescent; petioles terete, medium green, semiglossy; blades subcoriaceous, semiglossy, weakly bicolorous; spathe erect, green and glossy outside, much paler and weakly glossy inside; spadix glossy, brownish cream, glossy, 1.8 cm, becoming dark violet-purple in fruit.
