Remarks

At edge of forest and partly in forest. Tree ca. 7 m tall; fruit pendulous, immature, green, but full grown, also with younger immature fruit; inflorescences with buds only. This tree most closely resembles plants that have been identified as H. erratica J. D. Hooker var. sinica W. T. Wang, a name placed in synonymy of H. nilagarica in Flora of China 5: 196. 2004.
