Terrestrial, on steep bank; internodes short, 1.0-1.5 cm diam.; cataphylls mostly deciduous; petioles terete, medium green, semiglossy, weakly sulcate; blades thinly coriaceous, dark green and weakly glossy above, paler and semiglossy below; midrib sunken and concolorous above, raised in valleys on older blades, concolorous above, narrowly round-raised and slightly paler below; primary lateral veins sunken and concolorous above, narrowly raised and paler below; spathe green, tinged purple; spadix dark purple, semiglossy; berries dark purple-violet at apex, red at base.
