Wenshan Zhuangzu-Miaozu-Zizhizhou. Southwest of the city of Malipo and almost exactly midway in a straight line between Nanwenhe-Xiang and Dulong-zhen, near Baishapo, along a tributary of the Tanshan-he (Tanshan River); ca. 10.4 km north of the border with Vietnam. Mixed broadleaved evergreen and deciduous forest with Lauraceae and Fagaceae dominant, with several species of Acer and shrubby understory with abundant colonies of Alpinia. 1250-1350 m.

Thicket at edge of low wet area and below forested area, in partial shade each day. Shrub, ca. 4 m tall, arching; flowers greenish white; anthers yellow.
