Treelet to 6 m tall. Leaves with minute brownish prickles just above sheath. Fruit, a pendant syncarp on a long peduncle (c. 40 cm). Syncarp trigonous, c. 10 x 32 cm. Stigma spiniform, 2-3 mm long.
