As seen in 2 occurrences, in Ontario, Canada, and Chubu, Japan (plus 1 in botanic gardens): In Ontario, plants grow as erect young seedlings emerging beside a rock. The bright green, fan-shaped leaves are deeply divided into lobed segments on slender petioles on the seedling in Ontario, with radiating veins and slightly undulating or notched margins observed in Chubu. In Chubu, globose, pale yellow-green fleshy seeds dangle from slender stalks among foliage, and the brownish-grey bark is slightly rough and peeling along slender woody branches and spur shoots.
