Notes
Tree to 15 m tall, 40 cm DBH. Trees all leafless when in flower. Simultaneous flowering throughout region. Species very common on alluvial soils in valleys. Flowers bright red, visited by oropendolas and caciques, nectar-robbing birds, probably not pollinators. Holes pierced in corolla by birds.
