Arbre monocaule de 2 à 5 m, 20 cm de diam.; nombreuses protubérances sur le tronc; feuille à base rosée; inflorescence mâle dans la partie apicale du stipe ou à l'aiselle des feuilles, pendante; nombreuses bractées très coriaces, brunâtre dans la moitié supérieure, blanche à la base, caniculée, sous-tendant une courte inflorescence, c. 3 cm de longueur et 3 cm de largueur; étamines arrangées sur un disque.
