Open subalpine meadow with mixed forbs, including: lupine, Rudbeckia, Potentilla gracillus, Carex hoodii. Upright, taprooted plant. Lower stem not bristly, with narrow rachis, upper leaves becoming linear and entire. Fls yellow/orange, ligulate,; pappus not in a ring; achenes not flattened, not beaked. Invol bracts tomentose and setose.
